1100 watt Power Invertor for sale at 95 Euros !

EbroRose November 22nd, 2007

power-invertor.jpg Absolutely brand new and still in the box! It is unbelievable that it is for sale at 95 Euros.

This is just so ideal for use on “fincas” without electricity. A power source that will give some peace and quiet. You can stop running the generator at night. (Only the dogs snoring to keep you awake.)

This marvellous Power Invertor will power most necessary appliances, Television, Satellite receiver, computer, lights, CD & DVD player and so much more, (unfortunately not washing machines, cookers and electric fires. )

powerinvertor-2.jpgThis brand new 1100 watt, 2000 watt surge, 12vds to 230vac invertor is a real bargain at only 95 euros.

If you are “only a woman” like me and trying to fathom out how these work, I have been reliably informed that they will run off 12v battery ( not included ). But it is preferable to use a deep cycle battery. These are usually called a leisure battery which are normally supplied with caravans, boats or motorhomes. This type will tolerate being discharged more than a car start battery, and one of at least 100 ampair hour capacity.

These units are new, boxed and never used.

Though the batteries are not included, these leisure batteries can be charged from solar panels, wind generators, diesel or petrol generators during the day.

Call soon and then sleep more peacefully. Two already sold and four are still available. More can be obtained for the discerning buyer. This is one product a “finca” owner will not regret buying in Catalonia!

Empty trailer going back to Cheshire on Monday – 19th November

EbroRose November 14th, 2007

Have you anything you want transporting back to England on Monday 19th November 2007?  (There may be a levy if it is your “mother-in-law”…)concrete-mixer.jpg

You may have borrowed some equipment from your old neighbour back in the UK who is requesting its prompt return ?

Maybe grandma is going to be surprised with a huge object for gardenpots1.jpgChristmas – but how do we get it back? Whose idea was it anyway to agree to send her that big terracotta pot – she only grows minature pansies?

Gentleman Peter is very helpful and reliable and travelling back to Cheshire in the UK with an empty trailer. Living on the outskirts of Tortosa, he will consider anything that fits (and does not need feeding!) and within the total weight restriction. You are assured Peter will quote at a very reasonable rate. The Lower Ebro Valley pickup area is suitable. However, if you are outside this catchment area still give him a call.

The trailer is covered and secure. Contact him straight away!

‘Flu Vaccination = La grip vacuneu

EbroRose November 9th, 2007

catsal.jpgBrighter Catalonia may have warmer and dryer winters than that of northern, western and eastern Europe, but we are not exempt from flu viruses. The health service in Catalonia very effectively practices preventive medicine. Thus, the publications of their informative bulletins are for the benefit of all nationalities.

Their are certain vulnerable sectors which they emphasize should be vaccinated against these ´flu bugs. Namely:

# diabetics

# 60 years or older

# Those with chronic metabolic ailments

# Heart disease

# Chronic lung disorders and asthma sufferers

# Or in contact with people of high risk e.g cystic fibrosis children

Cat Salut started vaccinating on the 1st October but continue on until the end of November. So please don´t leave it too late. If you are not sure whether you or a member of your family should have one, then pop into your local Health Centre and ask the nurse or your doctor. But you will have to make an appointment for the actual vaccination with the nurse.

The old adage is prevalent here – prevention is better than cure !

www.gencat.cat/salut

Remember, when your grandma kept harping on at you to eat more fruit – “An apple a day keeps the doctor away!” Sure, fruit is good for you, but it won´t work on its own. So please don´t skip on the ´flu jab.

The autumn fall is here where “No job is to small”

EbroRose November 1st, 2007

digger1ev.jpgSummer is over and we have recovered from the onslaught of visitors. The weather is still fine and those much needed jobs can still be done before Christmas.

The dip pool was fine this summer, but how much better to have a larger pool dug out for you? Help is at hand. We know just the man!

Maybe you wish to have a trench dug for hidden water pipes or electric cables, but your land is so rocky. No problem – Peter has the equipment to cope with this.

Maybe you just have restricted access to your newly acquired dream property and the builders´ wagons can´t get up the slope or around the tight corners. This affable guy dumper1ev.jpgcomes along with his dumper and is able to move all of this for you.

Did your property flood by the river this year? Would you like an earth flood bank building ? Now is the time to consider remedying the situation before the next heavy rains descend on the Lower Ebro Valley.

These are but to name just a few of the variable tasks he can undertake for you with his variety of equipment. You do not have to wipe the sweat off your brow as you come to terms with driving these machineries, because you don´t. The man comes with his equipment and he is experienced – you just stand back and watch, or get on with some other chores.

Peter offers very competitive prices and comes highly recommended throughout the Lower Ebro Region. Call him on 0034 697 869 206

Remember: No job too small! Mini digger – dumper- breaker for hire with Peter the driver

Brian Parkin’s 4th November Car Boot Sale @Terrapico

EbroRose November 1st, 2007

abandonedcar1.jpgOlive picking over for the day – my aching knees sigh with relief. I sit for awhile outside our water well pump house, waiting for our water cisterne (tank) to fill up.It is still warm here with 20 degrees and it is only 4 o´clock, but that sneaky wind is drifting in. I could doze off here and my eyes trail the colours of the vines, rose hips, ivy, berries and autumn foliage are an arrayautumnstuff1.jpg of ochre, vermilion’s -some are even tinged with a rusty brown and somewhat crinkly effect.

At least I know we can still get out and about this weekend and have a break from the “finca´s” chores and toils . There is another Sunday morning”car boot sale” at Casa Madera@Terrapico on the outskirts of Tortosa, Raval de Christ and Roquetes – just follow the signs or exact directions are at the bottom of this article.

boots4.jpgI went along to the previous one and found it wonderful to meet the jovial Brian Parkin (Parky) character and to discover it is a social hub for meeting old friends and new faces – even to make two new business contacts.

Christmas and the Feast of the Three Kings ( Tres Rei ) will soon be upon us, and you just never know who will be trying out their hands at their very first Car Boot Sale. So it is looking promising that there will be a variety of goodies available. Everyone can roll up after 10.00am and claim their “pitch”, bring all your own stall items to display your objects – up turned buckets or dog cages will suffice.

But do speak to your friends and neighbours, not just the English, to see what you can unearth to sell. It can be fresh, it can be preserved, it can be baked or bottled, if you so wish. This is a place for Teenagers to start their bartering and entrepreneur skills sails2.jpgthemselves – so why don´t you mum and dad encourage them to “sort out” their bedroom clutter and out grown clothes and toys, or music long since moved on to hip hop – bling and bright is beautiful. So come on down you kids.

I keep hearing about these Expats that have been taking up new crafting skills since relocating here.So lets see them. Where are these delightful card makers? Us Expats can never find enough greeting cards to send abroad. There is always something special about buying a well-made, homemade card, rather than a shop bought one. I have heard on the grapevine that there is a certain, lovely lady in Xerta that makes such wonderful cards and dos baby knitting as well. So if anyone knows who she is please invite her along or ask her to contact me at www.BrighterSpain.com

At local fiestas through the summers I have past by and seen many local Catalan artists exhibiting their artwork. If you know of anyone please ask invite them along. They will make wonderful presents for friends and family back home.

There will be drinks and refreshments on sale by the Brian Parkins´ crew.

Entrance fee is the normal 5euros for the car seller – free to shoppers. Look forward to seeing you all there.
